Cruising Barcelona

When my mom and I sat down to decide where we should go when she came to visit, it was a pretty easy decision. I had never been on a cruise before and it would satisfy our basic needs- spending a lot of time together and seeing some amazing places. A cruise in the Mediterranean was the answer! With the help of our travel secret weapon (my aunt Katie) we were all set- long before any of paperwork to actually move to Qatar was finished. Read More...

The cruise was set to leave from the Port of Barcelona. We took a red eye from Doha to Barcelona and when we finally pealed ourselves off the plane, we were greeted by our tour driver. As the boat was not set to leave until the afternoon, we decided to take a driving tour of Barcelona in the meantime.

We drove around the city and took pictures from the car and occasionally got out to stretch our legs. After my mom's journey all the way to Doha, running around Doha for one day, only to then get back on a plane, it sure was nice to just stay in the car and take in the sights.

We did get to get out of the car and wander around Parc Guell. This is one place that I had not visited on my previous trip to Barcelona in college, so I was pretty excited to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. Luckily, we had a skip the line pass as Parc Guell is always busy.

Parc Guell is one of the very few public parks in Barcelona and was designed by Gaudí, who is famous throughout Barcelona and played a huge part in the architecture and art throughout the Catalan city.

We wandered around and marveled at the mosaics before trudging back to the car to head to the port.

As beautiful as it was, I was ready to take a nap (not much of a surprise). After having to take part in a fire drill complete with huge life vest, I finally got to take my nap before watching the sun set as we headed out of Spanish waters and headed to Italy.
